In general, yes our program can be counted towards high school credit for homeschoolers.

Virtual background cultural mini-lesson: we learn about amazing places, interesting animals and unique foods in the Spanish speaking world.

Spanish games: guess who, tic tac toe, charades, simon says, speed challenges, and many others!

Lots of movement: Acting out, movement games, short breathing exercises and quick brain breaks! drawing and coloring immersion challenges!

Immersion challenges: listening, speaking, drawing, acting, story-telling and much, much more! The level of immersion builds every semester!

Vocabulary with pronunciation feedback: Practice repeating new vocabulary with feedback on pronunciation, and then putting it into action through books, speaking challenges and other immersion activities!

Spanish conversation practice: Practicing asking and answering common Spanish questions together, putting the new vocabulary and verb usage into action!

Reading: We love creating fun, interactive Spanish books and stories! Students spend lots of time enjoying short stories and challenging themselves through our creative reading comprehension activities!

Grammar mini-lessons: we prioritize learning naturally, but some grammar topics in Spanish just need a little bit of time and discussion! We make these min-lessons as efficient and fun as possible!

Yes! One of the many reasons that homeschool families love our program is because of the great social atmosphere as well and students really feel like their Spanish class peers are friends. As their Spanish-speaking skills develop, they get more and more chances to interact and get to know each other in Spanish. We also recognize the importance of building relationships with students, so whenever there are a few minutes left at the end of class, students can break into English to tell each other about their weekends, introduce their pets, etc.

Our average group sizes are 8-12 students. In rare occasions,  14 is the max that any group will have and this will only happen if a family has to change class times at the last minute and no other families can trade with them. We have found these numbers are perfect for creating a social atmosphere, being able to play lots of team games and still being manageable in a Zoom classroom format. These numbers also give everyone plenty of opportunities to speak and ask questions whenever they want.

No way! Our Spanish homeschool classes are very interactive!  This is not at all a passive class for students. Students are directly involved in every single activity. They can raise their hand to ask a question at any time and will get Spanish speaking opportunities every class. We do lots of games and movement breaks as well. Even during listening and immersion activities, there is always an active role for students, such as acting, showing different hand gestures or a certain number of fingers based on prompts, etc. Our classes are all about making Spanish as fun as possible to keep children excited and engaged for many years to come!

Reinforcement is extremely important in a Spanish homeschool program! Each of our class weeks includes a reinforcement extra practice activity to be completed before the following week. For some weeks, these are as simple as playing a few interactive online quiz games to practice new vocabulary, while others are more involved, like making video recordings to practice Spanish skills. Students at higher levels will be assigned independent reading and writing that we will then go over together as a class. For younger children, all extra practices include audio recordings and videos so that they can easily listen and follow along without needing to read on their own.

Age ranges are flexible, and we often have siblings joining in the same groups and it always works out great, but we split students into younger, middle and older age ranges, similar to elementary, middle and high school ranges. For specific age ranges, take a look at each specific group’s age range under our current class openings.

Our students are mostly exposed to Latin American Spanish, since kids in the US are more likely to make amigos from Latin America, and Latin American Spanish is extremely versatile!

To make sure that students have an ear for ALL Spanish dialects, we include lots of listening immersion challenges throughout the program, featuring Spanish speakers from every Spanish-speaking country in the world! We also raise awareness in class about different varieties by explaining how the pronunciation of certain words would change in different Spanish speaking countries, or even by mentioning how certain pieces of vocabulary we’ve learned may be called something different in different countries.
